There is a reason why DJ Skooby has been dubbed the People’s DJ and voted 4 times Perth Dance Music Awards title for Best Urban/R&B DJ! The ‘show-stopping, track-dropping, party-rocking DJ’ has continued to entertain crowds across Perth for almost 2 decades on all stages and media platforms, and it is easy to see why. Dedicated to delivering the best party set possible, Skooby works tirelessly to ensure every set is perfected to suit the crowd he plays for.

 

Currently, the award-winning DJ resides at a number of venues around Perth as well as being the official game DJ for the Perth Wildcats, Western Force and West Coast Fever sporting franchises in their national competitions. Add to this already impressive resume, a nationally nominated radio show, podcasts, promoter behind a number of successful events and support for some of the music industry’s biggest names, and it is no wonder Skooby has the following that he does today.

THE BEGINNING

From an early age Skooby had shown a love for music, growing up listening to a variety of artists and genres and a need to share it with others. In first grade he even got his teacher to play John Farnham’s ‘Whispering Jack’ album over the PA in Primary School over a lunch period! It's this love for sharing music that ensured he was committed to educating himself on current and past music trends and artists.

 

THE JOURNEY

In the early-00’s, Skooby was given rare opportunities to learn under some of Perth’s most tenured DJs and he did not squander it. His early residencies at ‘Post Office’ and ‘Club Bay View’ helped to hone his skills in front of smaller crowds before community radio station Groove 101.7FM helped to build his profile alongside a residency at Metro City - Perth’s biggest nightclub.

 

In 2004, he was also the official DJ for the And 1 Streetballers as part of the Perth Wildcats Summer Jam series in Perth in front of 15,000 people and featured on the And 1 Downunder DVD.

 

Through this period at Groove 101.7FM Skooby produced old-skool programme ‘Sunday Skool’. He also created his own show, ‘Nesian Vibes’ which earned Skooby the only WA nomination for Best Radio Show at the Australian & New Zealand Urban Music Awards in 2006.

 

Throughout his journey Skooby has supported some of the biggest acts in music today including Bruno Mars, Akon, Pitbull, Ne-Yo, Fat Joe, Ginuwine, BLACKstreet, Kelly Rowland, Xzibit, YG, Naughty By Nature & Salt-N-Pepa as well as the best from Australia and New Zealand with artists such as Guy Sebastian, Jessica Mauboy, Scribe and Savage.
